Any setting that using gold pieces as the base form of currency tend to get stupid real fast as the developers often fail to comprehend just have stupidly heavy and unwieldy some of the prices actually would actually be in liquid currency. I mean, in some games, your own weight in gold coins would barely be enough to get yourself through a single shopping trip. Yet the developers still insist on making the major form of currency a heavy ass gold coin just for the sake of making dragon hoards look “right“, but then they have make the value of said coin crazy low so that one dragon killing adventure doesn’t give the characters more money than they could ever spend in six lifetimes.
